The interesting aspect of the new development is that, originally, Quad9 blocked resolution from German IP ranges. But, Sony argued, people in Germany could use a VPN, or a roaming mobile phone, and so bypass the injunction, and so Quad9 must block resolution globally.

Picking on a small provider is a poor look, IMHO.

Also, expect more "think of the VPNs" in things like the #OnlineSafetyBill.

@neil well that's a slippery slope. So Sony are happy for some other country to ban something they make because it doesn't fit within that countries ideals and laws e.g. Sony publish a game offensive to them, and then have DNS provider block Sony worldwide because VPNs exist?
