Any MacBook hardware experts out there fancy helping me figure out WTF is going on with my 2017 13" Retina.
If I boot when the charger is plugged in, it fails to see the SSD and won't start.
If I boot under battery power, it thinks the battery low and switches off.
I've tried the SMC reset process (shift+ctrl+option+power for 10secs), but that doesn't seem to do anything.
Ideas?

@saul original Apple NVMe or a 3rd party? Sometimes you have to hold the SMc reset for longer than 10s I've found.

@karlaustin picked up a Sabrent 512GB and a converter. Seems to be the preferred choice on YouTube

@saul suspected as much, I've not had any lucky with a 3rd party NVMe. They all cause weird issues. The OWC I had, I had to do SMC reset every time I wanted to use it, have to do it 50% of the time with the current one.

@karlaustin oh no. The current SSD is the original. The replacement is NVMe + adapter. Just installing it now too see what happens. Wish me luck 🤞

@saul oh, okay that is odd then. Good luck, with it, I had nothing but frustrations with replacements in my MBP :/
